Cheetham Hill Urban Living Lab
WHO AFCC in a District centre location
£16,000
The Cheetham Hill Urban Living Lab built on the Old Moat project by exploring the application of the WHO AFCC guidance to a district centre situation with a focus round community cohesion and healthy living. Commissioned by the North Manchester Regeneration team and the ZEST healthy living initiative it undertook the project in parallel to a Masters Studio site investigation and these creative engagements supported the co-production processes. Local Older residents were involved alongside local councillors, business organisations, NHS and LA stakeholders. The findings were utilised by the local age friendly network and the regeneration team across several service planning cycles.
The Cheetham Hill project was short duration and was undertook a range of engagement exercises with a diverse groups of stakeholders but it did not have the remit to support the generation of a resident led place based partnership. This project explored the contrition of different local areas to a district centre and sought to understand the dynamics of how that centre served the different groups of older people who lived in across a variety of neighbourhoods. It enabled the trial of a range of sampling techniques, desktop studies and interpersonal research approaches. It built on the communication protocols developed in Old Moat to share research findings and workshop impacts and activities with a broad range of stakeholders.
