Dr Neil Dagnall is an applied cognitive researcher at the Department of Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University.
He has been involved with the teaching and researching of applied cognitive psychology and the anomalous for over 25 years and is a strong advocate of public engagement and education in science. He has appeared featured regularly in the media and has over 4.5 million reads on The Conversation.
Neil has produced over 150 peer reviewed publications. On Loop, Neil has more than 750,000 reads and 70,000 article downloads. He is a member of the BIAL Scientific Panel and an editor for multiple high-profile journals.

Healthy Ageing Expertise
Neil is interested in the physical aspects of the lived environment and development of measurement instruments. His research focuses on applied aspects of cognition, particularly thinking style and cognitive-perceptual factors that influence scientifically unsubstantiated beliefs, decision-making, and behaviour change. Neil also has a keen interest in psychometric scale development and evaluation, which has resulted in recent publications examining the structure and best use of established psychological measures.
Recent work has focused on examining how beliefs influence subjective wellbeing.
